Stefan Jaracz Theatre has the status of a national theatre. Its history dates back to 1925. The building was raised as a gift of gratitude to inhabitants of Olsztyn, who chose Germany for their state in the plebiscite of 1920. It was named das Treudank, which in the German language means ‘gratitude for being faithful’.
The Puppet Theatre, beside staging interesting plays, runs many courses for children and teenagers about the history and theory of theatrical art. The Theatre Education Council gathers children from primary and secondary school.
